What Is Your Party Style? Plated Dinner.

The first big choice you’ll make as you plan your wedding reception dinner is how to serve your guests. It used to be that couples had only two options: a sit-down dinner or a buffet. But today there are so many creative options to explore when deciding how to serve your reception meal. To help you figure out the best serving style for your celebration we will be sharing our latest blog series: What is Your Party Style. To start us off is an outline of plated dinners and their pros and cons.

Reception Meal Style: Plated Dinner

A plated, sit-down dinner is considered the most traditional and formal wedding catering option. Typically, guests are served between three and five courses: appetizer, entrée, sides and dessert. At Blend, we like to sit down and meet with you to learn more about who you are as a couple, your likes and dislikes and then we create the perfect menu from there.

What you’ll love about a catered plated meal

With a plated meal, everyone at the table gets their food at the same time, which is great for arranging any other festivities you have planned.  Additionally, your caterer will know exactly how much food to purchase for your pre-selected meal, which can mean less food waste than a buffet or family-style meal may have. You can also choose to spread out activities (like dances and toasts) in between each course to maintain a nice energy throughout the evening, keeping your guests engaged.

What you’ll want to consider about a plated meal

A sit-down meal requires more servers, both for beautiful plating in the kitchen and to serve the meal to each guest. Additionally, with a pre-planned meal, guests are limited to what you picked during your tasting. But with your great taste, we know we can create a delicious plated meal that everyone will enjoy.
