It is the most wonderful time of year. It is also a time to remember to give a little back – for the season, and throughout the year. Blend Catering loves being able to give back to the community. Below are some events that we enjoy participating in.
Discovery Museum’s Chemistry of Cocktail
Blend caters the Chemistry of the Cocktail each year to help raise money for the museum. At this one-of-a-kind event, you’ll sample intriguing cocktail creations prepared by expert mixologists (and you), taste delicious fare from some of your favorite local culinary hot spots, bid to win in spirited live and silent auctions, and explore the entire museum. Proceeds from Chemistry of the Cocktail help The Discovery achieve its mission to inspire our region by being theplace to experience science. Your philanthropic support enables The Discovery to reach more people, more often, with innovative ways to create interest and engagement in science.
The Big Chefs Big Gala
Blend Catering joined other wonderful Reno chefs at The Big Chefs Big Gala this year. The evening includes appetizers, cocktail reception and mobile bidding on silent auction items at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino and benefits the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Nevada.
Nevada Big Horns Unlimited
Blend donates a large scale dinner to the Nevada Big Horns Unlimited Banquet auction every year. After the almost total extinction of bighorn sheep in the state (once our most numerous big game animal), NBU has been instrumental in the reintroduction of all three species of bighorn into more than 60 mountain ranges throughout Nevada. The banquet and auction attract nearly 2000 hunting enthusiasts and wildlife lovers from all over North America. The funds generated from this event are what enable NBU to accomplish a significant part of its mission. Now more than ever, those who participate with NBU as a member, volunteer or with a donation, have a profound effect on the future of wildlife resources not only throughout Nevada but throughout the world as well.
Nevada Humane Society’s Wags and Whiskers
Blend also donates auction items to the Nevada Humane Society’s Wags and Whiskers. Their mission is to care for pets, find them homes and save lives with the vision that all pets should have a healthy, happy life. Thanks to the amazing support of the community, Nevada Humane Society has achieved dramatic results, as Washoe County is one of the safest places in the country for homeless pets. Wags & Whiskers is Nevada Humane Society’s largest event of the year, raising crucial funds for lifesaving programs that cater to everyone in Nevada.
Yelp’s Home Away from Home
Yelp’s Home Away from Home benefiting RMHC Northern Nevada We served up a childhood favorite, dutch baby pancakes with fresh fruit, alongside other top caterers to benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern Nevada. Community members come together over home cooked meals and enjoy the Home Away From Home environment that families experience every day. Attendees get a chance to interact with chefs, food and pub trucks as well as write notes of encouragement to RMHC Northern Nevada guests onto a chalkboard to be hung at the House after the event.
Step2 Reno
Blend recently donated auction items to Step2 as well. STEP2 is a comprehensive residential and out-patient treatment program that provides women struggling to overcome substance abuse disorders, poverty, domestic violence and/or sexual assault/trauma the opportunity to rebuild their lives. STEP2 is the only program in northern Nevada that allows women to maintain custody of their children while participating in treatment. The result is self-sufficient healthy families.
